We would be please to have you join the first class of the Presiding Elders Executive Cohort of Payne Theological Seminary Doctor of Ministry Program. This degree program has been especially designed with you in mind in your middle management capacity. Dr. Charles Louis Harvey, a scholar and Presiding Elder in the Second District, will be the mentor for the group.
This is a unique opportunity to study with other presiding elders like yourself who values having time and space to critically examine the issues and challenges impacting today’s ministry. Theological education of the past will not be the theological education of the future. New future-,focused, technologically connected, collaboratively inspired and assessment driven will be the order of the day. The future is not coming, it is here and it is moving fast.
Furthermore, given the 2000 AMEC legislation mandating a Masters of divinity (MDIV) degree for ordination, a sizable cohort of new MDiv ministry talent is rapidly developing across the connection. This new cohort of MDiv graduates, some of whom may be in your charge, will profit greatly from the new and expanded executive level knowledge and training you will acquire in the program. Naturally, the AMEC church will gain as you contribute your new knowledge and training to the sustainability discussions for our Zion.
The inaugural class of the Presiding Elders Executive Cohort will be held the week of
November during Payne’s Founders Week Program. Please submit your completed application and references, no later than Sept 1th. Please call us if you wish to talk about this exciting degree program.
Yours in Christ,
Dr. Leah Gaskin Fitchue
