Doctor of Ministry South Africa Immersion Experience

      On behalf of Dr. Leah Gaskin Fitchue, President of Payne Theological Seminary, the administrators of the Payne/Bakke Doctor of Ministry Program would like to thank you for expressing an interest in visiting South Africa for an exciting, cultural, academic and spiritually enriching experience!  Individuals affiliated with Payne Theological Seminary and Bakke Graduate University will be traveling to South Africa from August 19, 2009 to September 2, 2009, and this webpage is devoted exclusively to providing students, professors, spouses, administrators, clergy and church members with information that will assist them in maximizing this tremendous educational and academic experience. In order to provide you with the latest information concerning this experience Reverend Sylvia Moseley, Administrative Assistant in the Doctor of Ministry Program, will be updating this site on a weekly basis. Below, you will find information concerning 1) a "Trip Checklist,", 2) our official flyer advertising the course, 3) a Master Calendar which details the daily itinerary and payment schedule for the trip, 4) a copy of the course syllabus from Bakke Graduate University and Payne Theological Seminary, and 5) an interactive, Feedback Form so that we may address your concerns in a timely manner.  We also are pleased to announce that Bishop Jeffrey Leath, Presiding Prelate of the Nineteenth Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church as well as Dr. Lowell Bakke and Dr. Stephan De Beer of Bakke Graduate University will serve as the professors of record for this immersion experience. 

 I.     Trip Checklist

      Individuals traveling to South Africa must provide Reverend Moseley with the following items prior to departure from the United States:

1.       An accurate headcount of all family members traveling with you to South Africa. Reverend Moseley  must have an accurate headcount of all parties traveling to South Africa.

2.       Evidence that you have paid 50% of your balance (approximately $2,000.00) by June 19, 2009.  Please send all funds to Meticulous Tours. Please send a copy of your check or money order to Reverend Moseley. (Meticulous Tours, 9213 Pegasus Ct., Potomac, MD 20854. Phone 1-301-983-6664)

3.       Evidence that you have a current passport. Please send Reverend Moseley an e-mail using the Feedback Form (at the bottom of the page) indicating that you have a current passport, and that your passport will not expire until February 2010.

4.       Evidence that you have registered with PTS for the trip. Please log on to the SIS system and register for the course.

It is important to note that all information included in the following document is subject to revision; however, dates, times and descriptions of events are included on this Master Calendar in order to provide you with a logistical overview leading up to and including the actual trip to South Africa.
